Networking vs. Not Working

Posted by stevehochman on April 15, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Have you heard all the legends about boot camp and group trainers getting BOAT LOADS of new clients by networking, only to get rejected and feel like a cheap solicitor when you try it?

p25-1

Well,  you’re defiantly not alone, but the GOOD NEWS is that I’ve discovered an amazing method that not only gets other business’s to refer you tons of clients, but they instantly kiss your ass within 23 seconds after meeting you.

One of my boot camp trainers had questions about using my “Network Referral System.” and I thought you might want to listen in.

How To Not Get Your Boot Camps Compared To Cheap Aerobics Classes

Posted by stevehochman on April 8, 2009 at 7:20 am

p23-1

p23-2All the badass boot camp marketing in the world won’t save your boot camps from the “Boot Camp Grim Reaper” if they’re being compared to a $19 a month aerobics class.

Lately I’ve noticed some local boot camps falling into the trap of replicating exercises, movements and themes done in a aerobics classes.

Here’s why this can be a HUGE problem, and you may not even know it.

Most of your boot camp clients have either seen or been in some sort of classes offered at those huge chain gyms.

When you imitate anything done in one of those classes, your members either consciously or unconsciously make a comparison in their brain.

p23-3When this happens, the value of your boot camp goes WAY down, and they suddenly start feeling like they are paying too much.

What’s weird is, they might not even know why they are feeling like that.

The bad news is this usually leads to “unexpected client cancelations”

And that SUCKS gorilla balls!

So, to make sure that shit doesn’t accidentally happen to you, I made a quick video to watch!

Lesson In Marketing From The Balloon Dude

Posted by stevehochman on April 3, 2009 at 10:41 am

p22-1I took my wife and two daughters to the mall this weekend for some good ol’  family time.

The kids wanted to eat at the rain forest cafe.

It’s actually pretty cool cuz there’s elephants, gorillas, anacondas and alligators that are life size and move when ever the lightening and thunder effects go on.

They also have these dudes walking around, making balloon animals for the kids…  They pretty much get paid p22-2in tips.

Check out this quick lesson in marketing.

In this video notice the “$5 bill” hanging around the balloon dudes neck…

Also notice my wife giving him a “$5″ tip. (Brilliant Subliminal marketing)

Subliminal, suggestive marketing stuff happens to us all the time.

My Little Brother Raked In $1,142 Dollars In 4 Days Using One Of My Simple Boot Camp Marketing Tips

Posted by stevehochman on March 24, 2009 at 9:39 am

p19-1So my little bro, David, is just a good kid going to college trying to make a few extra bucks to pay the bills.

The other day while we were playing Call of Duty 4 online, he tells me he thought it would be cool if he could give some guitar lessons in his spare time to earn some extra cash-o-la.

So I said dude, let’s throw up a craigs list ad using some of my basic boot camp marketing strategies.

And I do mean basic stuff like:

  • An attention getting headline
  • A few rapport building dear friend  paragraphs.
  • Some social proof (testimonials)
  • A back story (How he “accidentally. stumbled upon” an amazing method for teaching you to jam on the guitar .10x’s faster and better)
  • A clear call to action
  • Some free bonuses
  • A sense of urgency (I only have 2 spots left)
  • And an attention getting subject line

The ad Kicked ass, and he starting getting prospects left and right…but that’s not the most amazing part.

Let me explain

The entrepreneurial gene must be in our family because, before I knew it, my little brother hired a guy to TEACH his lessons while he just SITS BACK and spends about an hour a week marketing on craigslist.

And the crazy thing is, he’s never spent a damn dime out of his pocket on marketing!

p19-3Check out this KILLER interview with my little brother, David.

Enjoy!

By the way, if you want to see what one of David’s high conversion Craigs list ads look like click here

It’s so cool how the same basic methods that kick ass for boot camp marketing, also work for guitar marketing.

Hell, they don’t just kick ass, when you know how to market, you can completely DOMINATE your NITCH

(It’s almost like you have an unfair advantage over everyone else in your industry)

Dude, just think, my baby bro is raking in the dough just spending 30 minutes a week on his guitar lessons biz, while his friends are slaving away at crappy jobs they hate.

Makes me proud to be a BIG BROTHER :)

What The Hell Is… Project X

Posted by stevehochman on March 6, 2009 at 6:10 pm

p14-1

I’ve been literally getting 15-20 emails a day asking me two questions.

  1. When am I gonna come out with PROJECT X?
  2. What the hell is PROJECT X?

But what’s funny is, besides going back and forth with Bedros on Twitter about how PROJECT X will dominate – This is the first time I have ever OFFICIALLY leaked anything out about it.

First, let me tell you WHY I created PROJECT X.

p14-2Here’s what happened…

By now, you may have heard Internet marketing superstar Chris McCombs referring to me as the “GURU” OF GROUP TRAINING -

Hell, he’ll even tell you that I was the guy that taught HIM how to do it right, when he was a trainer at my fitness studio.

And I’ll tell you straight up, It felt damn good pulling in 250k a year while group training a measly 18 hours a week.

That is, until I accidentally stumbled upon PROJECT X.

But just for the record, it wasn’t all me.

Bedros Keuilian had A LOT TO DO WITH IT!!!!

Don’t get me wrong though, before I teamed up with Bedros, PROJECT X was already a monster money-making machine – Bedros just put wings, after-burners and sidewinder missiles on it…

He made it super-sonic $$

How My Human Billboard Fitness Marketing Strategy Made One Trainer $3,315 In 4 Days

Posted by stevehochman on February 18, 2009 at 3:34 pm

hbb1Last week one of my favorite trainers (Who is smoking hot!!!) sent me a pretty crazy text.

Here is what it said.

“Hey Steve, here’s the real deal. My boyfriend and I broke up a week ago and I moved out. I’ve been living out of my car and staying with friends all over Orange County and it’s really starting to suck. I need to blow up my business HUGE in the next 3-6 weeks cuz if I don’t by then, I’ll have run out of places to stay. Can I do this and will you help me?”

So I did what anyone in my position would have done… I told her she can stay with me (Kidding)

I said I would help her create a what I call a “Human Billboard” lead generating email.

hbb2Now, for an email to be a lead magnet it has to have what I call the big 3:

1. An attention grabbing subject line. If your subject line looks spamy or boring, it won’t get opened.

2. A compelling story. This is critical because it gets your prospects defenses down and softens them up for your pitch. If you don’t give your prospect a darn good reason for your special offer, then they will be skeptical.

3. A clear CALL TO ACTION. You gotta tell them exactly what to do, how to do it, and what they will miss out on if they don’t do it right away.

I cut and pasted the exact email that pulled $3,315 in 4 days below.

See if you can figure out why it worked so well…
