Hi David,
You're absolutely right to include goal setting and a mindset "time out", so to speak, as part of focusing on one's business. Taking time to read self help, motivational, business success books etc. allows you to expand your thinking. And I've starting devoting time each night having a little success talk with myself - it's calming and very satisfying to have those positive thoughts as the last ones before I drift off to sleep.
Very good post and I'll be checking out your website for copywriting tips.

To everyone who commented,

I'm so glad you were impacted by this post, because that's exactly what I hoped to do.

And Wayne, I totally see where you're coming from, and if that works for you, then all the power to you.

For me, to overcome self-doubt (which still effects me, and I'm sure to an extent it always will), I had to first set goals and take action. Then the self-doubt slowly went away with the more I accomplished and the more focused I became. Just writing goals down that really resonate with me has this effect. But that's by no means dogma or anything - everyone has their way of doing things ;)

Thanks again for the comments,
David

I have started asking myself the question of why I am so successful and have been coming up with a ton of awesome stuff. One of which is going on this blog everyday and changing my mindset.

What about adding the question in with the video "thank you" to our clients? That way they can come in to our boot camp/small group sessions with a successful mindset to achieving their fitness/weight loss goals as well.

Hi David-

You have an excellent site and some very powerful techniques in helping people to realize their goals. One observation I have noticed from many of my subscribers is that the emphasis of goal setting seems to on writing down ones goals etc and thinking about them without any emphasis to one's believing that they will "actually" achieve their goals.

What I have noticed from my 10 years experience in strategic planning/goal setting is that many many people have such poor images and negative thoughts about themselves. People need to "BELIEVE" in themsleves FIRST in order to overcome the self doubt that many people already have which impedes their goal setting objectives. Just writing down your goals will not work unless you FIRST BELIEVE that you will accomplish them.

I developed the ICPRA (Idealize, Conceptualize, Prioritize, Realize, Actualize) approach to goal setting several years that I have found to be very effective that helps clients see through the entire process and reinforces goal setting theory.

Keep up the good work-

Best-

Wayne

Amazing!

I am going to try that exercise tonight. I already find myself thinking of how I am successful now. I have a feeling of awe running through me. If I can keep up this feeling, I know that I will reach my goals. One of which is to retire when I am 50.

Thanks Steve and David

David, what an awesome post and talking about "right on time." I woke up this morning with my goals in sight and the thought of the day was focus. I even passed it on to my clients, it was their homework. Thanks a million....

Great post! I recently watched the Secret and have ordered some books from John Assaraf and Jack Canfield on these same principles, and it really works, but again it's a habit you have to get into so it can be difficult at first but keep working at it and it will be amazing what you attract into you life. Thanks for sharing.

My goal to have the biggest and most well know kick ass fitness company where I live dragging in over 10k per month, over 120k per year by this time next year, and to employ my first trainer very soon. Yeeeeeeah baby.

I'm starting my first 'Fit Camp' soon. I'm looking to generate a lot of media interest by donating all the procedes of the 'free saturday fit camp' to a local kids charity, £1 minimum donation. And I'm gonna call it a 'better body contest' like a biggest loser for the whole of my area.

Oh and by the way, to win the contest prize of xxx you know you gotta be working out atleast 4x per week. Did you know we also run camps in the week which guarantee you results our your money back? Who the fuck else offers a money back guarantee in our area? Well, your training with the best now, thats why I'm so confident you'll succeed.
